I had envisioned this two-piece outfit, searched for it online but couldn’t find a store that had exactly what I’d pictured in my mind!
Because your girl likes things, I had to end up sketching a design of what I’d wanted, bought some material to experiment with and presented it to Marian Mushonga- The founder of the start-ups Marian’s Closet and Zanguku Fashion, based in Johannesburg
Marian drew the patterns for this two-piece and made it happen! Yes, she did all of the things.
In the process of alterations, her close attention to detail resulted in the finished the piece that fit my body perfectly and was neatly crafted together.
This shoot was done in Cape Town, photographed by Matt Francis of Human Domestic.
In the haste of chasing the sun, I remember running, heels in hand, across the road to get to the place where we could capture as much natural light as possible. (The missions we pull for the Gram!)
Fortunately, Matt and I were were able to catch the last few glimmers of the sun rays. Hence the frames have reflected warm pink, oranges and gold hues.
